The photographer is looking aft over the port quarter from the promenade deck showing the empty deck chocks for the motor lifeboat and the port aft kingpost with associated winch machinery on the poop house. A games board with numbers on it is propped against the poop house. The photographer is looking north-east showing the Moorish Castle above the North Bastion and Willis Battery peak.
