The Hamnkanalen in Gothenburg, Sweden. The photographer is looking west-by-south from an upper floor of the central post office on Stampgatan showing the Drottningtorget in the foreground. This is the main tram and bus terminal outside the central railway station which is on the right. The Hotel Kung Carl is on the west side of Drottningtorget. On the left cars are parked near a petrol service station on the Slussplatsen and beyond is the Hotel Gota Kallare and the offices of the Svenska-Amerika Linien. Commercial premises with awnings pulled down facing the Norra Hamngaten and the tower of the Christinae Church are in the centre.
