A harbour scene on the island of Guadeloupe in the French West Indies. Two 2-masted schooners and some single masted sloops are in harbour. Stacks of sawn timber and sacks of produce are on the quayside and donkey carts are being used. A few people are in the foreground including two with bicycles. The place is not known but it may be Pointe-a-Pitre.
