On board the Orient Line cruise ship Orford (1928) moored in the San Marco Basin at Venice. The photographer is on a structure at the rear of the boat deck looking forward showing the boats in their davits, deck tennis courts marked out, engine room fan machinery and ventilators, aft boiler room ventilators and the aft funnel. St Mark's Square and Campanile is on the right and the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute is on the left. A steam yacht and the two Italian Navy torpedo boats Alcione (1937) and Calliope (1938) are moored in the left background and an Italian Navy light cruiser of the Condottieri A Type is moored on the right. All four of these vessels have awnings rigged. The horizon is not level. Negative number P84309 was taken on the same occasion.
