The passenger cruise ship Franconia (1923) in the harbour at Hammerfest, Norway.

The passenger cruise ship Franconia (1923) at anchor in the harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is at sea level looking along the port side from abaft the stern showing three hoses leading from the water to the deck for the purpose of hosing down the weather decks aft. One of the aft lifeboats is in the water alongside the accommodation ladder transferring passengers between ship and shore. The ship is in all white livery. Some buildings are on the far shore. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived. A vertical format negative.
