A street scene at Hammerfest, Norway.
A street scene on the east side of the harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. All of the buildings are constructed of timber. The post office is on the left and on the right are a cafe and Meieriet. A stuffed polar bear is by some trees on the right. The Sadlen is on the right and a lookout tower, signal station and wireless masts are on the top of it. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
