Looking north from the Sadlen at Hammerfest, Norway.

Looking north across the harbour from the top of the Sadlen at Hammerfest, Norway. The passenger cruise ship Franconia (1923), seen from off her port quarter, is at anchor with her stern close to the shore and she is in all white livery. The town is on the right. The northern mountains of Kvalo are in the background. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
