A distant starboard near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) anchored off Mandraki Harbour at Rhodes.
A distant starboard near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the Orient Line cruise ship Orontes (1929) anchored off Mandraki Harbour at Rhodes. Her port anchor is deployed and she has an accommodation ladder rigged to a shell door just aft of amidships. The photographer is looking east from near the church dedicated to Agios Ioannis showing the two stone columns at the entrance to Mandraki harbour. The nearest column is surmounted by a stag (elafos) and the other column has the she-wolf suckling Remus and Romulus on it. The Fort of St. Nicolas is on the right. One of the motor lifeboats of the Orontes is heading out of the harbour.
