The eastern part of the town and harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking north from the zigzag footpath up the Sadlen showing the wooden buildings of the town with St. Michael's Church near the left foreground. An unidentified coastal passenger/cargo steamer is alongside the quay. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
