A slightly distant starboard bow view of the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) anchored in a Norwegian fjord.

A slightly distant starboard bow view, taken from fine off the bow, of the Orient Line cruise ship Orion (1935) anchored in a Norwegian fjord. Both anchors are deployed and an accommodation ladder is rigged to the main deck aft. Lifeboats 11, 15 and 17 have been launched and lifeboat number 1 has been swung out and lowered to boat deck level. The Blue Peter flag is flying at the port yardarm on the foremast and the Norwegian flag from the starboard yardarm. The photographer is in one of the ship's motor lifeboats which is towing the oared lifeboat number 17A away from the ship. The scene suggests that the boat number 17A laden with passengers is either engaged in a regatta or a full scale lifeboat drill but none of the boat's occupants are wearing life preservers. The sixteen oars are tossed. A small settlement is visible near the shoreline at the right of the photo.
