The east side of the town and harbour at Hammerfest, Norway.

The east side of the town and harbour at Hammerfest, Norway, seen from the north shore. A few small boats are in the harbour or drawn up on the foreshore. A number of timber buildings are on the coastal strip with the northern mountains of Klavo on the left and the Sadlen on the right. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
