A street scene near the harbour on the town of Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking north-east along the quayside showing a kiosk and a warehouse on the left. Motor fishing vessels, including one registered F.26.H, and a coastal passenger/cargo steamship are in the harbour. A number of people are at the road junction in the foreground. All of the buildings are timber built. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived. A vertical format negative.
