A street scene in the town at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking north-east along a road at the east side of town. A 4-door motor car is parked on the left and a small girl is standing by a stuffed polar bear on the right. Tourists are walking along the middle of the road. the steeple of St. Michael's Church is in the background. The buildings are all constructed of wood. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
