The harbour at Hammerfest, Norway.
The harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking west-north-west across the harbour showing a large crane mounted on an elevated track on the north side of the harbour. A number of buildings and timber wharves are on the north shore. A timber jetty is in the left foreground with a small lighter laden with ballast and a rowing boat alongside it. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
