A street scene in the town at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking south along a road with the Sadlen in the background. A branch of Claus Andersen A/S is on the left and displayed outside the shop are a mounted head of a polar bear, a mounted head of a reindeer, blankets, polar bear skins and two stuffed polar bears, one on all fours and the other standing on its hind legs. A number of people and a man on a bicycle are on the road. The buildings are all of wood construction. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
