The east side of the harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking south-west showing motor fishing vessels, other small craft and a coastal passenger/cargo steamer at moorings or alongside the quays. Warehouses are on the left facing the harbour and the Parish Church is on the right. All of the buildings are of wooden construction. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
