The quayside and harbour at Hammerfest, Norway.
The quayside and harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking north from the garden at the junction of the Kirkegata and the Strangata showing motor fishing vessels and a small steamship moored in the harbour. One of the fishing vessels is registered T19G. A warehouse building on the left is fronting the harbour and all of the buildings are of wooden construction. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived. The northern mountains of Klavo are in the background in this foreshortened view.
