In the middle distance is a port bow view of the passenger/cargo liner Esperance Bay (1922) with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary armament stores ship Fort Sandusky (1944) on the right, both moored stern-on to Barriera (Quarry) Wharf. St. Barbara Bastion is behind the wharf and in the left background are Fort Lascaris, the Saluting Battery and the Upper Barracca. A few passengers are lining the rail of the Orcades in the foreground.
