The western end of the town of Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking south from on board a passenger cruise ship out in the harbour showing Grand Hotell and the Parish Church on the right. The Sadlen is in the background and on the summit are a lookout tower and a signal station. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
