The coast on the north side of the harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking west-by-north along the road which skirts the harbour. Two buildings are on the inland side of the road and they are constructed of wood. A number of Nordland rowing boats are drawn up on the foreshore. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
