The passenger cruise ship Monte Rosa (1930) in the harbour at Hammerfest, Norway.
A slightly distant starboard side view, taken from abaft the beam, of the German passenger cruise ship Monte Rosa (1930) moored and anchored in the harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking west-north-west across the town and harbour from the slopes of the Sadlen. A large number of motor fishing vessels, including ones registered T32G and F-9-H, and some open lighters are berthed in the harbour. Two of the warehouses fronting the harbour are occupied by Feddersen & Nissen. On the west side of the harbour is an engines aft steamship with no midship superstructure alongside a wharf on which there is a travelling crane on a raised track. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
