The town and harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking west from the zigzag path on the north end slopes of the Sadlen. In the centre is the Parish Church and in the foreground is the shop of Herreekviperingen. On the left is the Hammerfest Groceri & Farvehandel. All of the buildings are of wooden construction. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived. A vertical format negative.
