A Canadian Pacific Steamships motor lifeboat alongside the passenger landing steps in Hammerfest harbour, Norway.

A Canadian Pacific Steamships motor lifeboat alongside the passenger landing steps in Hammerfest harbour, Norway. The boat is laden with passengers and is seen from off her starboard bow. The negative number L1019 indicates that the photograph was taken in the period 1936-1938 and that her parent ship is possibly the Montrose (1922). People are watching from on a wooden piled pier on the left. Wooden buildings are on the far shore of the harbour. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
