Two coastal passenger/cargo steamers are alongside in the harbour. The north end of the Sadlen is in the background to the right of centre and the northern mountains of Klavo are in the left background. All of the buildings are of wooden construction. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
