The passenger landing steps and the east side of the harbour at Hammerfest, Norway.
The passenger landing steps and the east side of the harbour at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking east-by-north from the foreshore alongside the landing steps and pier showing a line of warehouses fronting the harbour and three of them are occupied by Feddersen & Nissen. The northern mountains of Klavo are in the background. In the foreground drawn up on the beach are a number of rowing boats including a Nordland type at the water's edge. All of the buildings are of wooden construction. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
