The east side of the town at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking north-east from the rock covered slop of the Sadlen showing St Michael's Church to the left of centre. The northern mountains of Klavo are in the background. All of the buildings are of wooden construction. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
