The photographer is looking south-south-east from the passenger landing steps showing some motor fishing vessels and two coastal passenger/cargo vessels moored in the harbour. A warehouse fronting the harbour on the right is occupied by M. Gabrielsen Bygnings Artikler Traelast and St Michael's Church is in the centre. The Sadlen is in the background. All of the buildings are of wooden construction. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
