The inner harbour and the main town at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking west-south-west from the east side of the harbour showing some motor fishing vessels and other small craft moored in the harbour. The warehouse fronting the harbour on the right is occupied by Feddersen & Nissen. the shops on the left belong to Harald Jensen Skotoimagasin og Laerhandel and C.F. Knobloch Kolonial Krustoi. The Parish Church is in the background. All of the buildings are of wooden construction. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
