The inner harbour and the east side of the town at Hammerfest, Norway.
The inner harbour and the east side of the town at Hammerfest, Norway. The photographer is looking east-north-east from the road leading to the Parish Church showing buildings on the west side of the inner harbour. A few motor fishing vessels and other small craft are alongside the east side of the harbour and one of the warehouses fronting the harbour is occupied by M. Gabrielsen Traelast. The Sadlen is in the right background and the mountains of north Klavo are on the left. All of the buildings are of wooden construction. The town of Hammerfest was totally destroyed by German forces in early 1945 and none of the buildings in this photograph survived.
