The market at the north end of the South Harbour at Helsingfors, Finland. The market is in the square between the water and the Pohjoisesplanadi. The photographer is looking east-north-east from the upper floor of a building showing a number of boats moored stern-on to the quay from which traders are selling their wares including potted plants and fish. The market square is full of handcarts, horse drawn carts, motor lorries, motor cars, stalls and people. In the centre of the square is Empress Alexandra's obelisk and In the background is the Uspenskin Eastern Orthodox Cathedral.
