Ship Cover for HMS Dreadnought (1875).
Ship Cover for turret ironclad HMS Dreadnought [originally to be named Fury] (1875). The documentation covers the initial design proposal made for the ship in January 1870, and continues up to November 1899, just prior to her re-classification as a second class battleship. The papers cover vessel stability calculations, armament, allotted ammunition and turret design, engine design specifications and coal endurance, hull specifications and weights, estimates of cost and general fittings. There is also some comparison drawn in the documents between this ship, the Devastation class turret ships and the Russian turret ship Petr Veliki [Peter the Great] (1872).
