Ships Cover for the Renown class second class battleship HMS Renown (1895). The documentation mainly relates to the initial design proposals, armour and protection scheme, stability calculations, statements of dimensions and weights, details of armament and ammunition allowance, schemes of complement, some data relating to coal bunker capacity, reports on vessel performance post commissioning and details of alterations proposed and carried out. The papers commence in April 1892 at the outset of the design process and end in about September 1911, by which point she was serving as a training ship for stokers.
