Ships Cover for 26 and 27 knot torpedo boat destroyers (1893-1895).

Ships Cover for the forty two vessels of the 26 and 27 knot torpedo boat destroyers (1893-1895). The documentation mainly relates to the ongoing maintenance of these vessels in service, and as such comprises reports of defects and damage and remedial action taken, alterations made, condition reports, stability calculations, details of propellers and reports of trials. The papers commence in October 1901 and end in February 1909. A slight anomaly is the presence of correspondence relating to the Chinese destroyer HMS Taku (captured and incorporated into the RN in 1900), although her presence in this Cover makes sense from the standpoint of administrative simplicity.
