Ships Cover for the Pigmy class composite screw gunboats HMS Partridge (1888), HMS Peacock (1888), HMS Pheasant (1888), HMS Pigeon (1888), HMS Pigmy (1888) and HMS Plover (1888). The documentation mainly relates to statements of dimensions and estimates of weights, details of the masts and yards, details of building costs and stability calculations. There are also reports of the trial cruises of the Partridge and the Plover. The date range for the Pigmy documents is September 1886 to April 1902. The second part of the Cover contains paperwork relating to the Redbreast class, specifically HMS Magpie (1889), HMS Partridge (1889), HMS Redbreast (1889), HMS Redpole (1889), HMS Thrush (1889) and HMS Widgeon (1889). The documents for these ships comprise the same material as per the preceding group, with further brief details on armament, ships fittings, turning and gunnery trial reports, alterations and schemes of complement.
