Ships Cover for Majestic class first class battleships.
Ships Cover for the Majestic class first class battleships HMS Caesar (1896), HMS Hannibal (1896), HMS Illustrious (1896), HMS Jupiter (1895), HMS Majestic (1895), HMS Magnificent (1894), HMS Mars (1896), HMS Prince George (1895) and HMS Victorious (1895). The documentation mainly comprises records of very detailed discussions concerning the features of the design, including issues of protection, armament and machinery. Following these are statements of dimensions and estimates of weights, a very detailed set of papers relating to the gun and torpedo armament and their respective ammunition, ships machinery such as training and loading gear, schemes of complement, armour and protection arrangement, some correspondence with contractors, stability calculations, reports of trials, and details of alterations proposed and those actually carried out. The papers commence in December 1891 at the outset of the design stage and end in March 1904, by which time all seven of the class had been commissioned and were on active service.
