Ships Cover for the Eclipse class second class protected cruisers.

Ships Cover for the Eclipse class second class protected cruisers HMS Diana (1895), HMS Dido (1896), HMS Doris (1896), HMS Eclipse (1894), HMS Isis (1896), HMS Juno (1895), HMS Minerva (1895), HMS Talbot (1895) and HMS Venus (1895). The documentation mainly relates to the initial design proposal and related correspondence, schemes of complement, armament and ammunition allowance, statements of dimensions and estimates of weights, ships fittings and equipment, stability calculations, correspondence with contractors concerning the supply of armour plate, alterations, cost estimates, and reports of steaming and weapons trials. Of further interest is a short report on the first three ships of the class compiled by Sir William White for Parliament. The papers commence in April 1892 at the outset of the design stage and end in March 1915, by which time the ships were serving in second-line duties.
