Ships Cover for the Eclipse class second class protected cruisers HMS Diana (1895), HMS Dido (1896), HMS Doris (1896), HMS Eclipse (1894), HMS Isis (1896), HMS Juno (1895), HMS Minerva (1895), HMS Talbot (1895) and HMS Venus (1895). The documentation mainly comprises copies of building contracts and details of tenders, statements of dimensions and estimates of weights, armament and ammunition allowance, reports of steering, steaming, equipment and gun trials, correspondence relating to ships fittings, condition reports and alterations made post-commissioning, coal endurance, a few schemes of complement and stability calculations. The earliest papers date from April 1894 when construction work was underway on the first two ships of the class, while the latest are dated July 1917, by which point all were engaged in second-line or static duties.
