Ships Cover for the Canopus class first class battleships HMS Albion (1898), HMS Canopus (1897), HMS Glory (1899), HMS Goliath (1898), HMS Ocean (1898) and HMS Vengeance (1899). The documentation mainly comprises a very detailed precis of the early design proposals and related statistics, comparisons with contemporary foreign ships and statement of the accepted class design, statements of dimensions and estimates of weight, stability calculations, details of tender documents and other contractor-related correspondence, details of ships equipment and fittings and related performance reports, alterations proposed and carried out, schemes of complement and steaming and weapon trials reports. The earliest papers date from May 1895 when the design process was initiated and end in June 1905 shortly before the class was recalled from the China Station.
