Ships Cover for the Highflyer class second class protected cruisers HMS Hermes (1898), HMS Highflyer (1899) and HMS Hyacinth (1900). The documentation mainly comprises copies of tender documents and correspondence with contractors, the initial design proposals and final statement of design, statements of dimensions and estimates of weight, memos and letters relating to ships' equipment and fittings, schemes of complement, armament and ammunition allowance, stability calculations, trial reports and details of alterations and additions made both during the design phase and post-commissioning. The early papers date from August 1896 in the early stages of the design phase and end in May 1911.
