Ships Cover for the Drake class first class armoured cruisers HMS Drake (1901), HMS Good Hope (1901), HMS King Alfred (1901) and HMS Leviathan (1901). The documentation mainly comprises the initial design proposals and final statements, detailed comparisons with the armoured cruisers of other nations, stability claculations, statements of dimensions and weights, cost estimates, details of ships fittings and equipment, details of the armament and some information on ammunition allowance, schemes of complement, details of tenders and correspondence with contractors, armour to be supplied and results of steam trials. The papers commence in December 1897 at the outset of the design process and end in about July 1912, when all four of the class were on active service.
