Ships Cover for the shallow draught gunboats HMS Heron (1899), HMS Jackdaw (1898), HMS Melik (1897), HMS Nightingale (1897), HMS Robin (1897), HMS Sandpiper (1897), HMS Sheikh (1897), HMS Snipe (1898), HMS Sultan (1897), HMS Woodcock (1897) and HMS Woodlark (1897). The documentation mainly comprises correspondencen with the contractors, details of ships fittings and equipment, reports of trials results, detailed papers on alterations, condition reports and repairs, and highly detailed reports of the performance of the vessels on various missions, including those of the Egyptian vessels on the Nile during the Omdurman campaign and the survey and patrol of the Yangtze by the China gunboats. The earliest papers date from October 1896 and the last from February 1910.
