Ships Cover for yard craft assigned to Home stations. The craft represented range from 50 ton store lighters to the submarine mining craft inherited from the Army when the Royal Navy accepted responsibility for harbour defence in 1905. The documentation mainly comprises general correspondence concerning individual vessels, statements of requirements and justifications for obtaining new craft, cost estimates, details of tenders for new construction, vessel condition reports and steam trial reports. The earliest papers date from November 1901 and the last from January 1912.
