A small group of wooden buildings and boat shelters on the bank of the Ilha Jararaca near Belem, Brazil. The buildings and shelters have thatched roofs made from leaves. Dugout canoes and boats with single planked sides are alongside a landing stage on the right. Two boats laden with canes are on the left and two boats are on shore under the shelters. The photographer is on a cruise on the Swedish passenger cruise ship Kungsholm (1928). The settlement is shown in negatives numbers P90293, P90300 and P92463 to P92478 inclusive and is variously recorded as Jaracaras and Jararacas.
