Fishing boats and wooden buildings at a small settlement on the Ilha Jararaca near Belem, Brazil. A single masted boat with its gaff and boom sail lowered is on the river bank. Rolls of bamboo canes are in the boat. A similar boat is further up the bank in front of a wooden building on stilts with a palm frond roof. Other wooden buildings are in the background. The photographer is ashore during a cruise on the Swedish passenger cruise ship Kungsholm (1928).
