On board a passenger cruise ship passing the Prinz Heinrich Bridge at Holtenau on the Kiel Canal, Germany
On board a passenger cruise ship passing the Prinz Heinrich Bridge at Holtenau on the Kiel Canal, Germany. The photographer is looking back towards the Holtenau Locks at the Kiel end of the canal from the stern of the ship. The 1912 truss and trestle bridge carries the traffic on the Prinz Heinrichstrasse across the canal. Between the bridge and the canal locks on the south bank is the factory of Zerssen & Co. The ship is almost certainly the Cunard Line's Lancastria (1922) because the negative series 831 to 844 are all of the Kiel Canal and the only ship identified is the Lancastria.
