The Portuguese Navy destroyer Dao (1934) being shelled in the Tagus Estuary, Portugal.
A very distant starboard broadside view of the Portuguese Navy destroyer Dao (1934) being shelled by coastal batteries in the Tagus Estuary, Portugal. The photographer is on board an unidentified passenger cruise liner. The crew of the Dao (1934) had mutinied and the ship was shelled by loyal Portuguese coastal batteries when she tried to leave the anchorage. The Dão, caught in the cross-fire between two forts, was hit and ran aground and the mutineers surrendered.
