An official visit to Funchal, Madeira.

A large number of people, presumably part of an official visit, walking off the passenger landing pier on the waterfront at Funchal, Madeira. Local people are lining the route and two of the onlookers are giving a nazi style salute. The people leaving the pier are headed by four women in a line who are followed by another three women. Behind the women are many men, including one in a white military style uniform and one who appears to be waving his hat to acknowledge the crowds. Two official photographers with plate cameras are near the head of the procession. A number of motor cars are parked on the right. Shipping anchored offshore include a general cargo steamer, a 3-masted barque, lighters and a 4-masted schooner.
