The town and anchorage at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer is on high ground to the north of the town looking south over the tiled rooftops to the waterfront. A large warehouse or factory building is on the waterfront on the left of the picture and to the right of centre is the steeple of the Catedral of Nossa Senhora da Assuncao. The Orient Line passenger cruise ship Otranto (1925), seen from abaft her starboard beam, is at anchor offshore.
