A general view of the town, harbour and anchorage at Funchal, Madeira. The photographer is in the gardens of Reid's Palace Hotel looking east showing the breakwater and Mohle Fort enclosing the Bahia da Potinha. The town is on the left with the main part hidden behind the tree covered headland. The P. & O. Line passenger cruise ship Viceroy of India (1929), seen from off her starboard beam, is in the anchorage close to the harbour and beyond the Mohle Fort is the Ellerman Line passenger cruise ship City of Nagpur (1922).
