The town and the Greek general cargo steamship Panis (1906) at Funchal, Madeira.
A slightly distant starboard side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the Greek general cargo steamship Panis (1906) in the anchorage at Funchal, Madeira. She is fully discharged. The photographer is on board a passenger cruise ship and a number of bumboats are heading in her direction. The passenger landing pier is in the centre of the picture with a tall brick-built column with a mast on top of it just to the right of the pier. Further inland is the square tower of the Jesuit College Church and to the right is the steeple of the Catedral Nossa Senhora da Assuncao. Four lines of rectangular blocks are on the foreshore on the left and a structure with Eagle Oil on it is beyond them.
